The Foodsharing App
About UXA Foodsharing UG (haftungsbeschränkt)
UXA Foodsharing provides everyone with a free app to easily deliver and pick up leftover food.
The dramatic facts are the motivation for the project:
- One third of the food produced worldwide ends up on the garbage, while 795 million people do not have enough to eat.
- 11 million tons of food are disposed of every year as waste by industry, trade, large-scale consumers and private households in Germany.
- At around 3.5 million tonnes per year, private households record the largest share of avoidable food waste; this is where the greatest potential lies in saving food!
- On average, every eighth food we buy ends up in the garbage.
- Every second, 313 kilos of edible food are thrown away.
Both the ethical problem of food waste and the inefficient use of resources (energy, labour, soil and water) are motivating UXA Foodsharing to use today's technologies to provide an easy way to stop this waste.
UXA's aim is to positively influence the lifestyle of our modern society so that saving food is easy, fun and a matter of course.
That's why UXA is designed to be simple: The dispenser takes a photo of the product with the smartphone, places it in the app for collection and a recipient nearby picks up the food.
