Ionicon Analytik Gesellschaft m.b.H.
About Ionicon Analytik
Ionicon Analytik was founded 1998 as a spin-off company of the Institut für Ionenphysik of the Leopold-Franzens Universität of Innsbruck (LFUI), Austria in order to make commercially available highly sensitive trace gas analysis instruments which are based on an innovative technology invented and developed by scientists at this university institution. Since then we have been improving this leading-edge technology resulting in the development of several types of ultra sensitive high resolution instruments based on proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) technology.
Today we are the world’s leading producer of trace gas detectors and VOC monitoring systems using PTR-MS technology. Our solutions allow our customers to detect online trace amounts of organic gases with great accuracy in real-time. Most of the common volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be detected in concentrations with as low as a few pptv.
Thus, a very low detection limit for VOC compounds, the capability for real-time measurement due to fast response times and continuous online-monitoring are the major advantages of our PTR-MS systems.
We manufacture our precision instruments at our company site located in the ICT technology building on the LFUI campus in Innsbruck, Austria. Today the PTR-MS systems are sold throughout the world including countries from all over Europe, the USA, Japan, Korea and China. Our customer base is constantly growing and includes noted multinational companies as well as renowned research institutions in the fields of environmental, food, security and process monitoring applications. To date we have sold over 100 instruments to satisfied customers.
Our solutions are used in atmospheric chemistry, in environmental research and trace gas analysis (e.g. emissions in urban and remote areas, indoor spaces, vehicles), food and flavour science (e.g. analysis of coffee, olive oil, butter, cheese, wine, herbal extracts and aromas) and industrial VOC monitoring (e.g. in waste incineration plant, chemical factories and production sites).
