Taco Bell Is All About The Queso
Taco Bell, the Mexican fast-food chain owned by Yum! Brands Inc., has introduced its first-ever queso cheese dip. The cheese sauce is now available with two new limited-time dishes.
Queso is an appetizer or side dish of melted cheese and chili pepper served in Tex-Mex restaurants as a dip for tortilla chips.
For the first time, Irvine, California-based Taco Bell is offering a Green Chili Queso with two new limited-time dishes - the Steakhouse Burrito and the Steakhouse Queso Nachos.
According to Taco-Bell, the Steakhouse Burrito comes with a "double portion of grilled marinated steak, hearty potato bites, crispy bacon and cool reduced-fat sour cream plus a punch of the new Queso." It is available for a recommended $5.99.
The Steakhouse Queso Nachos features a double portion of marinated steak, along with seasoned beans, three-cheese blend, and green chili queso, all served over nacho chips and topped with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. It too is available for a recommended $5.99.
The quaso can also be requested as a side to any dish, or solo with chips.
Taco Bell's version of the Queso took six months and more than 20 versions to perfect. It has a blend of onions, jalapenos, tomatillos, fire-roasted New Mexico Green Chilies, a touch of cayenne pepper, and cheese.
"We took our time perfecting the recipe, going through 20+ versions until we reached the perfect flavor and level of spice. In the end, we think we got to the perfect combination of sharp and creamy indulgence balanced with good spice and acidity from the peppers and spices," Taco Bell said. (dpa)
