Germany in now home to 1,492 breweries, more than ever since the country reunified in 1990.
"The beer market in Germany is growing more varied despite a consolidation," Holger Eichele, DBB director, told dpa.
The growth in breweries has been attributed to the growing popularity of smaller, specialized microbreweries which offer craft beers, despite overall beer consumption declining.(dpa)
