Unilever is ahead in the race with Nestle for Indian GSK division
Unilever is ahead of Nestlé in the race for the Indian food business of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), according to a press release. The Dutch and British pharmaceutical companies have entered into exclusive talks on the sale of malt beverage manufacturer Horlicks, the Financial Times writes in its Wednesday online edition. The division is valued at over 4 billion US dollars.
Just over a week ago, the Indian newspaper "Economic Times" reported that Coca Cola had withdrawn from the bidding war and that Nestlé had made the "more aggressive offer" with Unilever. At that time there was talk of bids of 3.1 to 3.5 billion dollars for the majority share GSK holds in the food business./mk/sig/AWP/jha (dpa)
