The Pale Ale was named after the beautiful glow of the Icelandic snow Snæbjört (snie-bioert). With its light golden colour, it is reminiscent of the snowy season and the shimmer of light that manages to illuminate the Icelandic darkness.
The beer is brewed from the American hops Azacca, Mosaik and El Dorado, as well as American ale yeast and brings passengers a hoppy, fruity taste with a sweet aroma of pineapple, mango and passion fruit. Brewed at the state-of-the-art Boyne Brewhouse in Ireland, Icelandair offers passengers the best in craft beer with original recipes. The 5% alcohol content is also a tribute to Iceland's average annual temperature.
Kristján Jóhannesson, Head of Inflight Catering at Icelandair, comments: "We want to offer our passengers variety during their flight. We are constantly looking for innovative ways to improve the experience for our passengers. By brewing seasonal limited-edition Pale Ale, such as Snæbjört, passengers can experience Icelandic culture from the very first sip".
The pale beer Snæbjört replaces its popular predecessor, the 737 Max IPA, as an alternative beer on board. Passengers can enjoy the new Icelandair Special Edition of Pale Ales on board and in the Icelandair Saga Lounge at Keflavik International Airport. It will be available to all passengers on board Icelandair network flights from European and North American destinations.
