Nutella® announces partnership with Food Banks Canada to help provide breakfasts

Canadians can help give up to 200,000 breakfasts to families across the country when they buy a jar of Nutella hazelnut spread

04-Nov-2020 - Canada

Nutella®, the original hazelnut spread, announced its partnership with Food Banks Canada today, to help bring 200,000 breakfasts to Canadian families in need this holiday season. Canadians can help spread a little joy when they buy their favourite hazelnut spread with the Nutella ‘Buy a Jar, Give a Breakfast’ program. The partnership further solidifies the brand’s commitment to the importance of breakfast.

“This year has been a struggle for so many Canadians and we’re proud to partner with Food Banks Canada to support our communities and thousands of Canadian families,” said Joanne Farber, director of marketing, Nutella. “Nutella has been a part of breakfast tables for generations and now we can be there for even more families and help them share a breakfast together, especially during the holiday season.”

Starting today, purchases of specially marked jars of Nutella hazelnut spread support a donation* to Food Banks Canada, helping provide up to 200,000 breakfasts to people in need. All Nutella hazelnut spread jars hitting grocery store shelves this holiday season will feature the Food Banks Canada logo, marking the year-long partnership with the charity foundation. This builds on its support of Food Banks Canada’s ‘Step Up to the Plate’ hamper program earlier this year.

“Food banks across Canada have been deeply impacted by the pandemic, in a host of different ways,” said, Chris Hatch, CEO, Food Banks Canada. “That’s why we are so grateful to supporters like Nutella. With their donation, we will be able to help those living with food insecurity throughout the year and especially during the upcoming holiday season.”

The spirit of giving starts at home and Nutella encourages all families who can, to focus their breakfast table conversation on how they can support families who don’t always have a breakfast to enjoy together.

The specially marked Nutella hazelnut spread jars are available in all major grocery stores across the country.
