The world of sweets and snacks is constantly evolving, with new flavors, ingredients and products being developed to keep pace with changing consumer tastes. After two years of a global pandemic and associated lockdowns, people are more motivated than ever to try new experiences and indulge themselves at every turn. This is fueling rapid innovation and presenting multiple opportunities for new and established brands.
Innova Market Insights’ first webinar of 2022 – Top Trends in Sweets and Snacks – deep-dives into the world of indulgence. It reveals the driving forces behind the latest product development and the consumer demands this innovation seeks to satisfy. Global Insights Director Lu Ann Williams casts a close eye over the trends impacting the sector, now and into 2022, against a backdrop of around half of consumers saying they want to be “more adventurous” in their food and beverage choices.
Meanwhile, the industry is gearing up for ISM Cologne – the world’s largest trade fair for sweets and snacks – due to take place from 30 January. Innova is taking a starring role in the event, being held in conjunction with ProSweets. There will be presentations covering the Top Ten Trends for 2022 and how they are impacting the sector. Visitors will also discover how brands are addressing increased environmental concerns, along with issues of trust and transparency. This comes amid a marked growth in new plant-based product launches that combine a premium or indulgent claim. Additionally, we will look at the ways the market can satisfy the increased consumer clamor for amplified eating experiences.
Innova will deliver unmissable and illuminating events every day from the Expert Stage in Cologne, with further interactive presentations taking place at the ProSweets Ingredients Event Zone which Innova is proudly co-hosting. These will detail the connection between Innova’s “Back to the Roots” trend and the sweets and snacks market, showing how raised interest in local, fresh produce is impacting the indulgence market. There will also be an in-depth look at sugar reduction and developments in sweeteners as consumers seek healthier snacking that still packs a pleasurable punch.
The collaboration between ISM and ProSweets has created a trade fair that represents the entire industrial value chain. Innova’s team of experts will be situated in Hall 5.2, Stand H-038, where they will be happy to take visitors through the latest trends and show how they are impacting industry innovation and consumer habits.
