Our history starts in 1832 with Adam Henkell. Pioneering spirit, discoverer and man of pleasure. First he established a wine store in Mainz. Exclusively for French wines.

Driven by his experimentalism and the idea of combining the best of two worlds, he created an entirely new composition of French Cuvée and German craftsmanship in 1856: Henkell Dry. 1909 saw a relocation to Wiesbaden in the cellar's new headquarters. Milestones at the start of a huge success story. Nowadays we are represented in 20 countries with our own subsidiaries and export to more than 100 countries worldwide.
