Karim has always cooked a lot for his son Samir, especially spicy Indian curries, with basmati rice or chapati. So Samir grew up with the infinite variety of spices and fresh ingredients from all over the world and took this culinary wealth for granted.
When Samir lived alone for the first time during his studies, he realized how much he missed his father's cooking: The food in the canteen tasted bland and boring. In the old Indian tradition of "chutneys", which were supposed to give dishes a new taste component and were brought to the dining tables of Europe by English lords from faraway India, Karim therefore sent him freshly prepared Indian sauces by mail every week to spice up his daily meals.
The chutneys quickly became an insider tip among his circle of friends - the idea for Lord Chutney's was born!
