Marania Yerba Mate stands for authentic mate culture from South America and a holistic brand experience. We offer you the best, organically grown and fairly traded yerba mate as well as accessories for an authentic enjoyment experience. At the same time, we take responsibility for social and sustainable business along the entire value chain.

Our story begins in Münster in 2012. We, that's Stefan and Maximilian, begin our design studies at the MSD (Münster School of Design) and soon become friends. A few years later, by now working as freelance designers and looking after clients from business and culture, we read an article about Yerba Mate in a US magazine and are overwhelmed. Of the history, the cultural significance in South America and above all the remarkable potential for body, mind and soul.

We realise that the positive effects of yerba mate have been appreciated in South America for centuries. In Europe, the USA and Asia, the traditional drink is known to only a few. In addition, no yerba mate on the market really convinces us. The products of the traditional brands from South America are not to our taste and many are, according to a study, contaminated with harmful substances. Moreover, these brands expose the yerba mate to intense heat and smoke after harvesting and then store the product for up to 12 months before it goes on sale. While we respect this tradition, we believe that a valuable product from nature, as yerba mate is, should be left as natural as possible to preserve the fresh taste and protect the valuable ingredients.

We set out in search of the best yerba mate in the world and finally find it in the rainforest of Brazil. Our yerba mate grows wild in harmony with the other plants of the rainforest and is grown 100% naturally. The mate bushes are harvested by hand and only every two years, so that the plants have enough time to regenerate. Our partner has been growing yerba mate organically for several generations and holds all important organic and fair trade certificates.
