FachPack 2016: Good ideas start here
- The FachPack extra: Technologies and ideas
- Sponsorship of young, innovative companies from Germany
- packaging process chain for industry and consumer goods
- Another extra: the attractive support program
You will only find it in this form in Nuremberg: the packaging processing chain including logistics and PrintPack under one roof. FachPack is one of the most important European trade fairs in the Packaging Industry. From 27 to 29 September it will be presenting products and services covering all aspects of packaging, technology, processing and logistics – for industry and consumer goods in equal measure. At the last event, around 44,000 trade visitors obtained inspiration and concrete solutions from the total of 1,565 exhibitors.
FachPack 2015 presented itself in sparkling form. “The great response last year again confirmed to us that FachPack is a firm fixture in the packaging specialists’ calendar as a central meeting place for the sector”, said Heike Slotta, Director Exhibitions, summing up the event. According to the results of a survey conducted by an independent institute, over half the exhibitors and visitors expected the positive trend to continue. “We are still in the middle of the acquisition phase, but the number of applications received so far combined with the current business trend have put us in a confident mood. We expect that the eleven exhibition halls will again be fully booked and are looking forward to offering the sector its innovation platform again this year!”

Technologies and ideas for practical applications
FachPack lives from its creative working atmosphere, in which individual solutions are discussed with the customers directly at the event in a pragmatic and expert approach. Product, process or service innovations – the exhibitors at FachPack, national and international alike, have a lot to offer. But not only established companies, whether small/medium-sized firms or global players, presented their innovations and new products. They included 20 German start-ups, who seized the opportunity to present themselves to the gathering of highly qualified trade visitors and make valuable contacts. Once again this year, subject to certain conditions, young, innovative companies from Germany will enjoy sponsorship by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) of their exhibition presentation. The participation will again be supported with up to 70 percent of the participant’s costs covered. The specialist range: the packaging process chain under one roof
Be it industrial or consumer goods – hardly a single sector can exist without the packaging industry. FachPack unites the four central market segments of the process chain: packaging, technology, processing, logistics. At the heart of this is the highly efficient German packaging industry, but the trend towards internationalization is also continuing. In 2015, 1,069 German and 496 international companies made use of this framework to present their products and services – around one fifth of the mainly small and medium-sized companies were even present in several sectors. The core segment with 728 exhibitors at the last event is made up of packaging materials, packaging supplies and packaging ancillaries. Efficient technology along with future-orientated technologies and processes are absolutely indispensable for the packaging sector. In this area last year, 558 companies presented packaging machines, labelling and marking technology as well as appliances in the area of packaging peripherals. Above and beyond that, FachPack is the address for packaging printing and processing (PrintPack) as well as the latest design trends (2015: 255 suppliers). Efficient logistics processes and services for the packaging industry round off the packaging process chain, at the last event 349 exhibitors showed their expertise in this field.
Acquiring new customers, informing the market about your own range and representing your own company at the fair – it is for these reasons that the exhibitors come to Nuremberg in particular - according to the results of a survey conducted by an independent institute. And this seems to work: last year around 90 percent were satisfied with the overall success of their participation and no less than 96 percent stated that they had reached their most important target groups.
The support program: popular and proven highlights
At the heart of FachPack is the large number of trends and innovations waiting to be discovered – and not only on the stands, but also in the support program. Around 90 percent of the guests assessed the range last year positively. And once again this year, themes and topics from the sector will be covered: in cooperation with renowned sector partners, the PackBox Forum – at the last event over 3,800 visitors listened in and held discussions here – dedicates itself in the usual way to the triple combination of innovation, inspiration and information. Outstanding and innovative solutions from the entire packaging value-added chain are recognized by the German Packaging Award, the most renowned European competition covering all aspects of packaging, to be held once again this year at FachPack. A new feature however is the award presentation held directly on the first day of the fair. Other proven highlights in the support program include the:
- Corrugated Cardboard Forum
- “Labels & More” Pavilion
- Packaging Design Special Show
- German Packaging Award Special Show
- “Packaging in Medical Technology and Pharmaceuticals” Theme Park
- “Process & Materials@FachPack” Market Place
- Tracking & Tracing Theatre
- “Human Being - Machine – Future” Theme Park
The trade visitors: packaging specialists willing to invest
The positive mood of the market was also reflected last year by the number of visitors: 44,022 industry and trade visitors, willing to invest, seized the opportunity to experience the European packaging industry under one roof. Their motivation was primarily gathering information about new products and innovations, cultivating business contacts, entering into an exchange of experiences and information with sector colleagues or obtaining a general guide to the market. And no less than 98 percent of the visitors surveyed said they were satisfied with the range of products and services.
Over 10,000 international guests from 86 countries travelled to Nuremberg, in particular from Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy. Around 88 percent of the packaging specialists stated that they had influential roles in purchasing and procurement decisions in their companies, according to the results of a survey conducted by an independent institute. This in turn was clearly evident among the exhibitors: 96 percent were satisfied with the quality of the visitors on their stand. They are all manufacturers and users of packaging for consumer and industrial goods as well as associated suppliers and equippers. As a result, in 2015, the typical FachPack visitor came from sectors such as food and semi-luxury items, the paper and print trade, machinery and appliance construction, plastics processing, packaging logistics or wholesale and several other packing sectors or areas closely associated with packaging.
