Hale And Hearty Soups Recalls Chicken Chili Soup Over Listeria Risk

Hale and Hearty soups LLC is recalling roughly 455 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken chili soup product due to possible contamination with the deadly Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's food safety and Inspection Service said. 

Packaged in 6.9-lb. bags, the recalled "CHICKEN CHILI SOUP" bears the expiration date of 12/09, and was shipped to food service distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Vermont. 

No illnesses or adverse health effects have been linked to the products subject to this recall so far. 

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are requested not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. (dpa)
