Cofounders/co-CEOs Julia Collins and Alex Garden reportedly said, "We've recently closed a round from leading investors to support our hiring and market growth."
Zume raised $23 million last December, reports noted.
The Mountain View-based company, which is automating pizza production and delivery, is expected to change the way fast food operates by increasing speed and freshness. It could also reduce a significant portion of labor costs.
The company is already delivering pizzas in Silicon Valley. It uses an assembly line of robots to do dull tasks like flattening dough, and spreading pizza sauce and cheese. It also does potentially dangerous tasks like sliding the pizzas into and out of an 800 degree oven.
Automation for the food industry, where robots do the boring stuff, is said to free up humans to work on the more creative tasks like creating recipes.
