McDonald's Trying Delivery In NYC
The test involves 88 select McDonald's restaurants in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. McDonald's full menu, except ice cream cones, will be available for delivery during the normal operating hours of participating restaurants. Certain restaurants will offer delivery 24 hours a day.
Customers will have to pay a delivery fee calculated based on the geographic distance traveled by the courier as well as a standard service charge.
"This is a city where delivery is a way of life," said Mwaffak Kanjee, vice president, general manager of the McDonald's New York Metro region. "We are excited to launch this test so our customers can get hot, freshly prepared food right from McDonald's kitchens, when and where they want it."
McDonald's is the latest fast food company to partner with Postmates for door delivery service. Last month, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG) announced the launch of its online delivery service across the U.S. with the help of Postmates app. Chipotlea was spun off from McDonald's in 2006. (dpa)
