Schladen plant has a new leader
Dr Jörg Vietmeier takes over the sugar plant in Vorharz
Dr Jörg Vietmeier (44) will assume management of the Nordzucker plant in Schladen as of 1 September 2016. The long-standing engineer and process technician is taking over from Burkhard Jahn (63), who will retire in September after more than 40 years in the sugar industry.
Dr Jörg Vietmeier started his career at InnoCenter Braunschweig, a former subsidiary of Nordzucker AG, in the research and development department, after achieving his doctorate on exhaust gas purification at the Dortmund Technical University over 13 years ago.
He joined the Schladen plant in 2005 as a production engineer, where he was responsible for the “Machinery” area.
He moved to the Investment and Maintenance department at the Group headquarters in Braunschweig in 2015, where he was responsible for investment projects in Slovakia, Poland, Denmark and Germany.
“I look forward to my new task in Schladen and to a great team. Together we will master the coming challenges associated with market liberalization. I will continue along the path taken successfully by Mr Jahn to achieve greater efficiency, customer orientation and quality,” said Dr Vietmeier.
Burkhard Jahn began his professional career in the sugar industry in 1971 at the Haldensleben plant in Saxony-Anhalt. Following the reunification of Germany, he went to Baddeckenstedt as operations manager in 1994 and subsequently took over management of the plant in 2000. When the plant was closed, he ultimately became plant manager in Schladen in 2001.
