​Jan Toft Nørgaard appointed new chairman of Arla Foods amba

The Arla Foods amba Board of Directors has appointed Jan Toft Nørgaard from Skærbæk, Denmark to succeed Åke Hantoft as Chairman of Arla Foods amba, when he steps down on July 2, after seven years in the role.

The appointment of Jan Toft Nørgaard was made at the Arla Foods Board of Directors ordinary board meeting Thursday, May 24 2018, following Åke Hantoft’s decision to retire from dairy farming and the completion of the sale of his dairy farm in Ösarp, Sweden.

Commenting on the appointment, Jan Toft Nørgaard says:

“I am honoured by the confidence the Board of Directors has shown me. I am humble about the task I take on as chairman and I look forward to working closely with the board and the management of the company on continuing the development of the Arla Foods.”

Jan Toft Nørgaard will take over the position as Chairman on July 2, 2018 continuing the focused work for the company on growing the global dairy category and its strong portfolio of global brands, which are integral to Arla’s Good Growth 2020 strategy, for the benefit of its 11,200 farmer owners and the company's customers and consumers.

By July 2, the Arla Foods Board of Directors will also have named a Vice Chairman, thereby ensuring the smooth transition of the Chairmanship.

Jan Toft Nørgaard is 58 years old. He lives in Skærbæk, Denmark, with his wife, Sanne, where they have a dairy farm with 485 dairy cows.

The new chairman has been a dairy farmer since 1982 and an elected representative in the cooperative since 1996. In 1998 he became a member of the Board of Directors in MD Foods and since 2000 he has been a member of Arla Foods Board of Directors. In 2011 he was appointed Vice-Chairman of Arla Foods amba.
